Write in your own words: what occurred, when you found out, who already knows. You do not need to structure it, and you do not need to decide in advance whether a polygraph is the answer — working that out is my job, not yours.

Before you write

The first conversation is free and commits you to nothing. If your situation is not one I can help with, I will tell you in that call.

Confidentiality is the default, not an extra. What you tell me stays between us whether or not we end up working together. Nothing from an engagement appears in my articles, teaching or talks.

If the incident has just happened, do not wait until you have gathered all the facts before getting in touch. The most useful hour is the first one — and most of what makes an enquiry harder later (the office-wide discussion, the warning phone call, the deleted access log) happens in the days people spend deciding whom to ask.
